ANUOLUWA OPENIYI
The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Area, Engr. Dr. Mojeed Alabi Balogun, has expressed concern and condemned the killing of Kolade Johnson, who incidentally was a constituent member of Onilekere/Onipetesi Ward C, Ikeja Local Government Area.
The Council Boss, who sees Kolade Johnson as a young, energetic and reserved individual, is deeply saddened over the death of the promising lad.
Recall that Kolade Johnson was allegedly shot dead by members of the Police Anti-Cultism team while watching a live football match at Onipetesi, Ikeja, Lagos, on Sunday March 31st, 2019. The death of the young man sparked widespread criticism from youths and concerned Nigerians across board.
The Executive Chairman described the incident as one which does not give room for the freewill of citizens within Ikeja LGA to demonstrate their right to freedom of association and expression and as such would not be tolerated within Ikeja community as a whole.
Engr. Dr. Mojeed Alabi Balogun appreciated the efforts of concerned citizens, members of the Press and other parties over the ugly incident. Specifically, the Local Council Mayor also appreciated the efforts of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu, for commiserating and paying a condolence visit to the family of the deceased over the sad loss.
However, the Council Boss expressed optimism that justice will prevail over the death of Kolade Johnson as the perpetrators have been identified and will be made to face the law by the Police authorities.
