The candidate of the Action Alliance Congress in the forthcoming Lagos State House of Assembly By-election for Kosofe Constituency 2, Comrade Wahab Sodiq Olawale, has described himself as an Ambassador of trust, in whom the electorates can entrust their votes and political representation in the October 31 poll.
While addressing and soliciting the support of his colleagues at the Rotary Club of Idimu High-Rise, District 9110, Nigeria, over the weekend, the Computer Science graduate believes his technological inclination and “solution-driven legislative agenda” should position him strategically as a credible alternative against the incumbent party, All Progressive Congress and the leading opposition, Peoples Democratic Party in the poll.
Banking on his electioneering experience as the State Coordinator for the party’s Presidential Candidate in the last election, Omoyele Sowore, Wahab, a 30-year-old App Developer, said his decision to contest the poll was borne out of the need to help canvass better legislations for millions of startups and SMEs in his constituency and the entire state.
According to him, “I want to appeal for your support in whatever ways possible. This aspiration is a referendum on the power of alternative; and I strongly believe that our alternative is more credible and visionary”.
Wahab explained that his political ambition is solely targeted at being elected to push for better legislative frameworks and bills that will support Startups and Small and Medium Enterprises in his constituency and the state at large.
He said this is certainly one of the responsive and responsible ways to help the hardworking and resilient people of his constituency and entire state to navigate the economic landmines set by the Coronavirus hurricane and almost zero compensation plan from the incumbent government.
The AAC State House of Assembly candidate stressed that, to achieve this, “I humbly present myself as the fresh and untainted vessel that is ready to drive the process, relying on my education, technological inclination, Rotary Membership, and the fact that I am an ambassador of trust, with blind spot for betrayal”.
“Help us by helping to voluntarily talk to the electorates on my behalf; tell your friends and colleagues to help fund our campaigns. Help us engage in door-to-door political canvassing. Tell your friends to come and volunteer as our Party Agents at the poll. We need all of these and many more supports to triumph in the election” Wahab appealed.
Also speaking at the gathering, the State Chairman and Chairman for Inter-party Advisory Council, Lagos Chapter, Comrade James Adeshina, said it was time for the Nigerian youths to take the saddle of political governance in the country, because of clear realization of poor representation and delivery.
According to him, “For instance, in this by-election, the ruling Party, APC is almost gallivanting around now, assuming it has had the election in its bag. Ditto of the leading opposition party, PDP, which is also beclouded in same arrogant disposition, but I bring to you a fresh breed that is untainted and willing to deliver”.
“I implore you to join us in this campaign and enroll your membership with our political party. Ours is party with the zeal to drive positive change in the country. And we believe in the power of the youth. Come join us and let’s, together, liberate Nigeria,” he added.
In his response, the President, Rotary Club of Idimu High-Rise, said though the international humanitarian organization is apolitical, but the politician, given his personal integrity, is entitled to the blessing and supports of the members of the club.
“We would volunteer our time, talent, treasure and thinking, to support you in anyways possible. And we also wish you well and success in this contest” he added.
