A 34-year old veteran prisoner, Idowu Dosumu, has confessed that he was a habitual criminal and boasted that he was used to prisons, as he had been jailed three times before he was sent to jail again on Monday in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Dosumu was sentenced to two years imprisonment with hard labour after he pleaded guilty and admitted that he had gone to prisons three times for similar offences.
The convicted Dosumu was arrested at Goshen Estate after he broke into the dwelling house of one Taofik Oguntade to steal. Unfortunately, the owner of the house was still inside when he broke in.
Dosumu became angry and descended on Oguntade and inflicted injury on him with fist blows before the neighbours rescued him.
The matter was reported to the Police; Dosumu was arrested and detained at the police station for interrogation and he expressed his anger.
He claimed that he thought that the victim had gone to work before he broke into the house, only to later discover that he was inside and he attacked him.
The Police found him culpable and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for burglary and assault.
He pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, informed the Court that the defendant was a habitual criminal that did not want to change. The prosecutor informed the Court that Dosumu had been going to prisons for similar offences and the last count was three times. He urged the Court to sentence him accordingly bearing in mind that he was a habitual criminal that was not fit to live in the society.
The Court found him guilty as charged and sentence accordingly.
