A 32-year old habitual criminal, Orisile Mayowa, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment with an option of N100,000 fine after he taunted the Magistrate that he was just released from prison before he committed another criminal offence two weeks after in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Police operatives from Ejigbo Division led by CSP Olabisi Okuwobi apprehended Mayowa on 23rd January, 2020, at Bucknor Estate, Ejigbo area of Lagos, where he broke houses and carted away some household properties.
Some of the items Mayowa stole included: power generating sets, mobile phones and other items belonging to  Opoadura Olushina, Henry Onyekachi and Amadi Benjamin respectively.
However, before Mayowa could escaped, he was apprehended and handed over to the Police, who recognized him to be a bandit that had committed similar offence and was sent to prison last year.
He admitted that he was released from prison late last year and confessed that he immediately went back to stealing after he was released.
The Police charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for stealing and he pleaded guilty. He told the Court that he was released from prison and he went back to stealing.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, while presenting the fact of the matter told the Court that Mayowa was a habitual criminal who was not fit to live in the society going by his statement.
The prosecutor asked the Court to sentence him accordingly because it was obvious that he would not change as he went back to commit crime after he was released from prison custody.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade, found him guilty as charged and sentenced him accordingly. Mayowa will be spending the next two years in prison barely two weeks after he was released from the same prison in Lagos.
