Asisat Oshoala, captain of Nigeria’s senior women national team, has distinguished herself as one of the world’s finest female footballers, both at home and abroad. Not only has she been making good marks for herself on the pitch, she has also been doing wonderfully, helping humanity in the little ways she can afford.

As part of her effort to give back to the society that brought her to the world limelight, Oshola, who plays for FC Barcelona femini in Spain, set up Asisat Oshoala Foundation with the core objective of giving young girls hope through education and sports.

Oshoala has been impacting humanity positively through her football4girls tournament, back to school project, food project and football for hope.

“I am happy that Asisat has proven to be a child who has been growing up with the fear of God and the love for fellow human beings,” Alhaja Khadijat Lamina Oshoala, the mother of Asisat told P.M. EXPRESS during the inauguration of a solar borehole project donated by Asisat Oshoala Foundation in partnership with UBA Foundation to Itunmoja Community in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

“I am not surprised seeing her doing what she has been doing for the girls and other projects her foundation have embarked upon. She is a die-hard giver, who loves what she is doing. She took this from the family because we love to give,” Alhaja Oshoala said.

P.M. EXPRESS reports that in the last few years, the Asisat Oshoala Foundation has produced over 10 players for the Nigerian national teams, from the under 17 to the under 20, to the Super Falcons. Two of the notable players are Rashidat Ajibade and Chidinma Okeke, and both of them have played for the Super Falcons and they ply their trade abroad for their respective clubs.

Ajibade was the most valuable player of the 2017 edition of the football4girls tourney, and she made her debut for the Falcons in 2018. She now plays for a Norwegian side, Avaldsnes IL.

Okeke won the most valuable player award for the 2018 edition of the football4girls tourney, and like Rashidat, she also made her debut for the Super Falcons the following year, and she plays for Madrid CFF in Spain.
