The newly elected Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, during the weekend, assured that the House under his leadership watch would work in synergy with the other arms of government for the betterment of the state.
This was as the Speaker reiterated his commitment to run an all inclusive leadership that would encourage every member of the House to contribute their individual quota for the overall development of the state.
The brand new Speaker and number three citizen of the state, Paul Emeziem, gave the assurance when he led other principal officers of the House on a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Ijeoma Agugua, in Owerri, on Saturday.
He also assured to give total support to the Prosperity Government led by His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma towards the actualization of his laudable visions for the state.
In her remarks, Justice Agugua applauded the visit, describing it as unprecedented. She also pledged to corporate with the leadership of the House and ensure that the three arms of Government work harmoniously for the general well-being of the people and state.
The courtesy call, this reporter gathered, was part of the Imo House of Assembly’s leadership decision to, not only build bridges and identify with key political actors in the state, but also to introduce her brand new Speaker to a number of the leaders as there was no luxury of time to reach as many critical stakeholders as it would have loved to, during the weekend.
Within the shortest period of notice for the visits, the House leadership train paid a courtesy visit to the duo of High Chief Tony Chukwu (Onweghi ihe Kariri Chukwu) and former Governor of the State, Chief (Dr.) Ikedi Ohakim, at their Ehime and Isiala Mbano country homes respectively; as a mark of respect to leadership.
The retinue of the Speaker’s colourful entourage, on its way back to Owerri, the Imo State capital, also made a stop over at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), to pay a hospital visit to the Chairman of Imo State Elders’ Council, Dr. Sir. Ejike Onyewuchi, who was on a medical leave/bed rest. The ace politician and respected elder statesman in return, prayed for the leadership of the House while offering his fatherly advice and best wishes.
Two other visits recorded during the courtesy calls were at the Owerri residence of High Chief Mike Ikeokwu, Chairman of All Seasons Hotels, and a Senior Special Adviser to His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma; the progenitor of Hopism Political Ideology in the state. After sharing ideas and pleasantries with the Nkwerre born business Maverick, Mike Ikeokwu, the House leadership paid an immediate courtesy call to Senator Osita Izunaso (Kpakpando); Ohakpu, Oru West born boardroom political strategist.
Senator Osita Izunaso, who represented Imo West Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate between May 29, 2007 and May 29, 2011, is one of the respected critical stakeholders and political gladiators in the state.
Excited Senator Izunaso, while cheerfully receiving the new Speaker and the House leadership, described their visit as a step in the right direction, heartwarming and unprecedented.
The visit was rounded off a bit late in the night as the Speaker and members of the House leadership paid a visit to the Chief of Staff to the Imo State Government House, Owerri, Chief (Barr.) Nnamdi Anyaehie, who never spared good thoughts to highly commend the new zeal and spirit of team work found in the leadership of the Imo State House of Assembly under the proactive and responsive watch of the duo of Rt.
