OGU BUNDU NWADIKE, M.A
Many people in the opposition believe that the vibrancy of the legislature is measured by extent of disharmony and face-offs between them and the executive represented by the president of the country or the governor of the State.
But the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly since the 9th Assembly that started in 2019, has set the example that strength of government can be gauged by the peaceful coexistence and cordial relationship between the legislature and the executive.
In the current Government of Imo State, the relationship between the three arms of government has been very cordial.
Right from the take off of the Uzodimma’s administration, the legislature embraced his people-oriented vision and dreams for Imo State and Imo people.
A little over two years after, the relationship between the legislature and the executive has sustainably remained something to write home about.
In fact, as it is between the legislature and the executive, so it is with the Executive and the Judiciary. There’s no report of frosty relationship between the Executive and the Judiciary.
His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has proven to possess the human relations and human management skills for carrying others along.
Of course, government comprises the executive, the legislature and the judiciary. In history, there were situations where there were irreconcilable differences among the three arms of government. The story of Imo State is positively different!
To a large extent, Governor Uzodimma has accorded the other two arms of government ample autonomy and independence, some of which aren’t even their constitutional rights, but are desirable for the smooth running of government for the overall benefit of all Imolites.
The result is that the Government of Imo State is rated among the most peaceful and progressive States in Nigeria. That’s a big achievement for the government of the day, led by Governor Uzodimma, with the leadership of the legislature and the judiciary!
The decision to commend Governor Uzodimma by the Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA) ably led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Chidozie Ibeh, is a very good one.
There’s nothing wrong with the legislature commending the executive for the good work that the government is doing.
It’s no longer news that Governor Uzodimma has set Imo State on the fire of infrastructural development across the State in all sectors, with each of the 27 LGAs having 5 kilometers of rural roads approved for construction.
Honestly, there are so much going on positively in Imo State that every sincere, well-meaning person or group, both private and public, should eulogize Governor Uzodimma for.
It’s heartwarming that virtually all the members of the IMHA have one good story or another to tell about the massive programmes and projects being put in place by Governor Uzodimma.
It’s left for Ndimo to rally round their representatives in the State Assembly and continue to give their governor all the support he requires to continue doing good in Imo State for Imo people.
By God’s grace, Imo State is being rehabilitated, reconstructed and recovered by Governor Uzodimma!
