Imo House Of Assembly: Deputy Speaker, Iwuanyanwu Visits Project Site With Gov Uzodimma, Commends Quality Of Work

The Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has paid a visit to the State House of Assembly complex to inspect the ongoing renovation work at the dilapidated hallowed chamber on Friday, 11th March, 2022.

The Assembly complex, which was built several years ago during the late Sam Onunaka Mbakwe’s administration, but has been poorly and rarely maintained by successive governments in the state, received attention at the behest of Governor Hope Uzodimma, who visited the complex a few weeks ago in the company of Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh, alongside his Honourable colleagues. 

According to the governor, renovation of the State House of Assembly complex has become so expedient in order to provide a befitting, healthy and effective legislative environment for the State lawmakers. 

Governor Hope Uzodimma however, expressed satisfaction with the speed and level of work done, adding that renovation of the State House of Assembly complex and changes thereto have become so imperative as it is urgent to enable the lawmakers go back to their formal permanent legislative building.

Meanwhile, the writer had earlier scooped that the Assembly complex, before its near collapse, was an impressive architectural edifice which houses offices of all the elected 27 State lawmakers including the Speaker, as well as legislative staff.

Addressing the press, immediately after the inspection tour by the State Governor, the Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly and member representing Nwangele Constituency, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, KSC, commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for his unrelenting commitments in the reconstruction of the dilapidated Assembly complex.

In his words, Amara Iwuanyanwu expressed: “We are very elated. We thank His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma, for creating an enabling environment for us to be able to do our work, our legislative duties in the interest of the state and Imo State citizens”. 

He continued; ”This is a fantastic edifice, a world class Legislative House that can compete with any legislative house across the world, and we thank His Excellency for this wonderful opportunity”.

The egghead and proactive Imo State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu, while eulogizing the Governor for his honest commitment to the development of the State however, solicited the support of Imo people for the 3R Administration and Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Amara Iwuanyanwu maintained in strong terms that;  “Gov. Hope Uzodimma is a man of his words, who has kept his promises to the State Legislature and to Imo people. He has kept to his promises that the ongoing renovation of the Imo State House of Assembly complex will be completed in a short time. And from what we can see here today, we are going to meet up with the timeline “, he noted with great confidence and assurances.
