Imo State APC, Are We Really Criminals? ➖ Musings of A Party Faithful

This is time for every right thinking APC stakeholder to pitch tent with one of three alternatives in this criminal crucifixion of the largest assemblage of progressives, East of the Niger. First, and probably the most convenient alternative is to join in the ignorant shout of a deluded few, saying “Crucify him! Crucify him!”. The second, and certainly the narrow path of sublimated truth, is to stay put with the facts and resist the temptation of pandering towards a populist error orchestrated by men of overpriced integrity. The third and last resort will be to “wash your hands”, like Pilate, allowing the cacophony of injustice to prevail over the subtlety of truth.

The current twist of events in the Imo State APC is reminiscent of these three typology of actions culminating in the death of the greatest man ever to traverse this temporal contraption called earth. What Owelle Rochas Okorocha may not know, as a fallible being, is the man whose kiss has sold him out to the haughty hands of his growing army of detractors. Maybe the Deputy Governor, may be his former SGI, may be his former Commissioner of Information and Strategy. Just maybe, because in the case of Christ Judas was a single man. For Ceaser, it was a Brutus. Sadly, in the case of Rochas, it is an ominous combination of Judas and Brutus plus some other back-stabbers novel to bookmakers.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party, has earned accolades and backlashes for its frontal fight against corruption and criminality. What is yet to be ascertained is how this fight will be slugged out when the battle appears to be raging from within. Accepted, the anti-corruption fight appears asymmetrical to the extent that we are hand-in-glove with the definition of what constitutes corruption and how it is to be handled. However we decide to see this, corruption is simply the unlawful; and the unlawful impunibly stares Imo APC at the face.

How else do we define the unlawful beyond the audio-visual evidence of a botched ward congress occasioned by the obvious absence of sensitive materials and the mysterious disappearance of the supposed Chairman of the committee? What else is unlawful, if the incontrovertible apprehension and testimony of Engr. Innocent Ikpamezie and Co do not call for any serious worries and requisite lawful action? How else do we define unlawful, if all these brazing criminality subsist, yet the perpetrators are all over town boasting of a “done and dusted” congress – are we really an assemblage of criminals?

Just like the scripture reference above, the APC and her National Leadership must quickly react decisively to this festering internal malfeasance and bring errant members to Justice, if we must sincerely justify the external fight against corruption – unlawfulness. This is not about a Rochas or an Uche Nwosu mandate, it is more about the credibility of the fight against corruption enshrined in the Manifesto of the party – APC. It is about this growing unlawful action bolstered by some members of the opposition with the active connivance of some enemies within. The members of the Imo State APC deserve a chance at fair representation. They deserve a “lawful” congress devoid of all trappings of illegality. Let this judgement against corruption and criminality begin from within us.
