Indian National Arraigned For Swindling HND Supermarket Of N22m With Fake Bank Alert

An Indian national resident in Nigeria, Mr. Ramshikor Chaudi, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly swindling HND Supermarket to the tune of N22m with fake bank alert.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Chaudi, was consequently arraigned before the Ikorodu Magistrate Court in Lagos for dishonestly obtaining goods worth N450,000 and also stole others items worth N21.6 million, all valued at N22 million.
The incident happened on 2nd January, 2026, at HND Supermarket along Shagamu Road, Ikorodu.
When he was caught, he was charged before Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The prosecuting counsel, Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the Court that the Indian allegedly forged bank payments receipts by altering figures, dates and amounts on electronic transfer confirmations to perpetuate the act.
He claimed that he had made full payment for the goods, inducing workers at the supermarket to release the items to him.
It was later discovered by the management that defendant swindled the company and the matter was reported to the Police, who moved into action, eventually arrested and charged him before the Court.
During the arraignment, the prosecutor, Famuyiwa told the Court that the alleged offence committed by the defendant was contrary to Sections 314, 287, 361 and 365 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Adedeji Ogbe, granted him bail in the sum of N5m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 19th February, 2026, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
