The Igbo indigenous movie industry, Igbowood, Abia State Chapter has endorsed the candidature of Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah of the All Progressives Congress  (APC).

Speaking in audience with Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah and his campaign team, the leader of the over 200 man delegation said that they came to the agreement to endorse him because they believed in his ability to transform Abia State and help the growth of the entertainment industry in the state.

They made a promise to mobilise massively the entire industry and the ordinary masses of state to vote for him in the 2019 governorship election.

The leader of the delegation, Ms Nwada Chinyere ugoji, went further to say that “this is one endorsement like no other. We are not here to play to the gallery and we are not going to work with or endorse another candidate. Before coming to see Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, we have looked at all the candidates in Abia State and we are convinced that he is the one with the genuine interest of the people at heart. We know his track record, we have seen his investments in Abia State and we are aware of how he has helped thousands of Abia people and we are convinced of his love for our dear state”

The leader of the delegation also used the opportunity to request him to help the movie industry in Abia State when he becomes the governor.

Another member of the delegation, Steve F. Bondson, who is popularly called governor of Igbowood, narrated the challenges facing the entertainment industry in Abia State under the current administration and said that “we see Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah as a leader and not a ruler. Having reviewed the deplorable state of affairs in our dear state, we are confident that only Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah can make the difference in Abia State”

Responding to their endorsement of his candidature, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson thanked them for their support and determination to mobilise massively for his election. He promised to help develop the industry in Abia State when he becomes the governor of the state. He promised to build a World Class Film Village in Abia State and help the movie industry in the State to secure international collaboration with Hollywood using his vast network of global contacts. He also promised to give the industry in Abia State a global reckoning.

Igbowood in Abia State has members numbering over one hundred and fifty thousand people with many duly registered to vote and they are strictly into the production of indigenous Igbo movies.
