Inside Mike Adenuga’s Daughter, Folasade’s Colourful Nuptials

From the exclusive circuit of Nigeria’s elite, glad tidings of love and wedlock rent the air as the wedding bells tolled again. This time around, it was from the household of billionaire mogul, Dr. Mike Agbolade Ishola Adenuga Jnr.

On Saturday 26 October, the business magnate was a perfect host at the wedding between his daughter, Afolasade and her beau, Adebola —son of Late Mr. Ademefun Ogunsanya of the popular Ogunsanya family of Ikorodu kingdom. And it’s no exaggeration to say the whole world was watching.

No expense was spared by Adenuga, the mogul behind Nigeria’s leading technology company, Globacom as he chose the breathtaking scenery of the freshly-built Se-Se’s Grove located along Alfred Rewane Road in Ikoyi, Lagos for the traditional wedding.

The magnificent venue was a best kept secret as Spotlight learnt the Marquee was recently erected on acres of land purposely for the party.

There is no gainsaying that the Adenugas and Ogunsanyas are families of immense stature, and the wedding embodied everything their legacies represent — wealth, class, and dignity. The union of Afolasade and her lover is a celebration of not just love but also the coming together of two pillars of Nigerian high society. Thus the enchanted wedding atmosphere, with a cocktail of lively music kept the energy high and was a testament to the grandeur that the two families commanded.

Creativity and elegance reigned supreme at the lavish nuptial bash which featured a top performance by none other than King Sunny Ade. He was supported by other top entertainers like D’Banj, Flavour, Davido and Veentage Band. Every element —from the lavish décor to the intricately designed invitations— was curated to reflect the couple’s union in a way that mirrors the prestige of both families. Guest tables were set up in natural formations, dressed in exquisite lavender details, lavish flowers and original star-shaped decorations.

All these created an unforgettable dream wedding.

For Adenuga, it was a rare appearance. Adenuga, fondly called the ‘Spirit of Africa’, was boisterous with a euphoric mood.

The fervour was understandable. He was surrounded by his few closest families, old friends and members of his extensive business conglomerate. As a matter of fact, Adenuga was the biggest star at his own event where there was never a dull moment. This attests to the fact that the legendary tycoon and his adorable wife, Titilola —the mother of the bride— were perfect hosts.

Penultimate Sunday, select family members and friends had a taste of the business magnate’s 5-Star hospitality as he hosted an exclusive pre-nuptials cum introduction ceremony in his ultra-luxurious ‘Bellissima on the Waterfront’ Villa in Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos with Juju legend, Ebenezer Obey on the bandstand. But last Saturday’s traditional wedding was like no other.

Folasade, 29, is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Her credentials are as impressive as her lineage and her bright legal mind.

She is the founder of QuickLaw, a law firm that has managed million-dollar international partnerships and multimillion naira property portfolios. She is currently serving as a Group Executive Director of Mike Adenuga Group.
