The International Para-Powerlifting Competition is currently holding at the Oriental Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
The tournament, which began on 24 will end on 31 January, 2019.
The weeklong championship is being supported by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Sports Commission with provision of accommodation, feeding, medical, transportation, security, ceremonial, venue and facilities.
The event is being competed by para-powerlifters from Nigeria, Ghana, Guinea, Tanzania, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire and others.
Already, the venue of the competition, Oriental Hotel has been a beehive of activities with over 40 para-powerlifters from outside Nigeria and no fewer than 40 local lifters from Nigeria, officials from para-powerlifting African body, the Main Organising Committee (MOC) and the Local Organising Committee are already on ground.
Executive Chairman of the Governing Board of Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Kweku Adedayo Tandoh disclosed that the state is poised to host a successful competition as Lagos State Government has put in place all the necessary logistics needed for the hosting.
“We have put in place all necessary arrangement to host this international championship in Lagos,” Tandoh said.
