In order to showcase the values of motherhood, celebrate women achievements, promotes women locally with global impacts amidst the sense of unity and developmental landmarks, the Chairperson, Ero Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ekiti State, Hon. Felicia Ibiloye, has called for the inclusion of women in the leadership and decision-making positions. To her, it’s one of the antidotes to good governance and equal participation in a thriving society.

Speaking with the media as part of the activities marking this year’s edition of the 2024 International Women’s Day, Ibiloye, fondly call Mama by all and sundry, opined that inclusion and empowerment of women in order to take better positions is a key point to work with great determination to achieve positive results.

“Before getting to this position, I have always been a key figure in advancements of women ideologies, even men and youths too. I believe that there should be no barrier in seeing women taking prominent positions in decision making levels.

“Luckily one of the keynotes of this year’s International Women’s Day is to boost inspiration and promote inclusion.

“There is need to carry all along, whether you are physically challenged or not. Whether you are popular or not . Whether you are relegated to the background or not. We need each other, hence the need to reach out to all women out there to make Ero LCDA and the dwellers in all the communities under it a better place than we met it. We are not projecting for today’s alone, we are also thinking of a better place for those coming later. We want our women to stand out and be noticeable. Their voices to be heard where greater ideologies are being pondered upon.

“Here in Ero LCDA, we are open to innovative ideas, we are open to collaborations, we don’t think that any idea is useless so far we can sit round the table to ponder upon it and see how it can bring transparency, accountability and development to our towns and communities.

“We want our women to overcome obstacles that can hinder their development. We want our women to be happy in order to sharpen them for a new day. We will liase with the state government and other key stakeholders to support us wherever we think they can wade in .

“No discrimination here in Ero LCDA of Ekiti State. Kudos to our men here for believing in women emancipation and development,” she enthused.

Hon. Felicia Ibiloye who is planning to create a meeting point of ideas for women and youths to jaw jaw on community advocacy and volunteering concluded that cottage industries will be promoted in the locality with women in mind.

“We have many female farmers here who can compete with the men folks on agricultural issues, ditto for gaari producers. Our gaari is the best in Nigeria and this is endearing customers here. We will work assiduously to build cottage industries for our women. We will also find ways to create an awareness drive that can drive buyers here.

“Politically, getting women into acts of governance and decision making shall not be swept aside,” Ibiloye, who was once a member of the Board of Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti said.
