A Northern group, Arewa Development Support Initiative, ADSI, has charged Nigerians, especially Arewa youths on tolerance and peaceful coexistence even in the face of provocation.
In a statement signed by Khuraira Musa, President, ADSI, the group said, “We, the members of Arewa Development Support Initiative (ADSI), a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization, which believes in the peaceful co-existence and progress of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, whose main vision and mandate is to see all Arewa citizens working together for the betterment of her region and Nigeria in general regardless of one’s religion, political affiliation, or tribal inclination, hereby lend our voice to the current security challenges across the country”.
“We, by this release are calling on all Arewa youths to continue maintaining the peace, exercising patience for the virtue they are noted for in view of current happenings in our country, Nigeria.”
“Please keep a listening ear to our elders and leaders and duly follow the rule of law to avoid any involvement in any kind of violence in whatever guise or form.”
“The best way for progress and prosperity in a democratic society is through peaceful dialogue and tolerance in the face of provocation. Violence can only breathe destruction and pains and not progress.”
“We also call upon the Government of Nigeria to do everything within her powers to protect the lives and properties of her citizens which is the sacred mandate of the Government.”
“Long Live Arewa, Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria” the group concluded.
