Iranian Tomato Company Plans N36Billion Investment During Agritech Nigeria Osun 2019

The Economic Attaché, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nigeria, Mr. Sadegh Sadeghi has revealed that one of the companies in Iran is coming to the State of Osun to set up tomatoes farming and processing plant worth $1oo million (about N36 Billion).

Sadeghi, who is in charge of ECOWAS Affairs in the Embassy told a delegation of Agritech Nigeria Osun 2019 during a courtesy visit to the Embassy on Wednesday that several Iranian agricultural and agro-allied companies have been mobilised by the Iranian Embassy for the first-ever agro technology exhibition and conference coming up in Osogbo the capital city of the State of Osun from 26-28 March, 2019, adding that one of them is into tomatoes processing which is not only willing to come for the Agritech Nigeria Osun 2019 event, but also ready to undertake an investment worth $100 million by setting up a tomatoes farm and processing plant in the state.

According to the diplomat, the company will only need land close to water to farm and build the plant as well as security guarantee from the government of the State of Osun.

“Since last time our Ambassador attended the Sensitisation Dinner organised by the Governor of the State of Osun in October, we have been contacting various companies in Iran on the need for them to come for the Agritech programme. We know the values of what you are trying to do with the agro technology exhibition and conference, so it didn’t give us problem to market it among our companies in Iran.

“We have been mobilising these companies and they promised to attend. One of them is even coming to the Agritech Nigeria event with an investment worth $100 million to establish tomatoes farm and plant. This company will bring its machineries and expertise to train the local people. We still have others in the agricultural value chains which are planning to come for your event. We have been working since we were officially informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this event because it is timely and useful,” Mr. Sadeghi said.
