A 35-year old self acclaimed Islamic cleric, Jamiu Olasheu and three others were arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command on 3rd February, 2019, for unlawful possession of a human skull.
According to the report issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, while the police patrol team from Agbara Police Division were on their routine crime prevention patrol of Kofedoti area of Agbara, they accosted two men on a motorcycle having suspected them. Police reportedly asked the two men to come down for a search consequent upon which a human skull was discovered in a sack found on them.
The duo, 45-year old Teslim Ayeniromo and 35-year old Sunday Kolade, were promptly arrested and taken to Agbara Divisional Headquarters where the DPO, CSP Adegbite Omotayo, personally interrogated them.
In their confessional statements, they claimed that the human skull was given to them by a 51-year old Micheal Osanyinbi for onward delivery to the Olasheu, an Islamic cleric. They then led the DPO to the house of the man who gave them the skull who in turn led the police to the self acclaimed cleric.
The cleric made confessional statement that he actually requested for the skull which Micheal Osanyinbi promised to get for him at the rate of N25,000 and N1,000 for the bike man who will deliver it to him. He stated further that the skull was needed for a yet to be disclosed ritual.
