A 24-year old Islamic scholar, Isah Idris has been arrested and paraded with his accomplice, Abubakar Ibrahim who planned to kidnap one Alhaji Salisu Idris’s daughter over failed N6.3m business deal in Lagos.
The incident happened at Ipaja area of Lagos where Alhaji resided with his family and owned a private Mosque.
The Kaduna State-born Alfa Isah Idris was paraded with other suspected criminals by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal at the Police Command, Ikeja Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Idris confessed that he actually contacted another Islamic cleric based in Kaduna State to come to Lagos to carry out the failed operation that landed the suspects in trouble.
Idris said he gave N6.3m to Abubakar Ibrahim over the business transaction and Alhaji Salisu Idris did not return the money and even the share of Abubakar’s profit was not paid. Alfa Idris said he was then contacted by Ibrahim to arrange for the kidnapping of Alhaji Idris’s daughter. He contacted Bagudu who moved to Lagos to carry out the operation.
However, the whole plan failed after Bagudu went to monitor the Alhaji and to identify her daughter, only to discover that the Alhaji he was asked to kidnap his daughter was from his home town and has been generous to their people.
It was then that Bagudu called Alhaji and revealed the whole plan against him.
While parading them, CP Edgal said that the undercover operatives of the Command on intelligence gathering, met one Alhaji Salisu Idris at 7B Ipaja Road who narrated how a mercenary was hired from Kaduna State to Lagos to kidnap his daughter. The police boss said based on the information Alfa Bagudu Bello was to execute the plot as an Islamic scholar who will have access to Alhaji’s house because he built a private Mosque there.
During interrogation at the police Command, Alfa Idris said he was paid N100,000 deposit before he came to Lagos and lodged in a hotel for two days and they promised to balance N400,000 after the operation.
CP Edgal said while efforts were been made to arrest the fleeing suspect, the suspects already arrested will be charged to court.
