A 33-year old lady, Kehinde Adekunle, who a bank customer erroneously transferred N250,000 into her account, was asked to refund the money and she refused insisting that it was prayer answered by God and it has landed her in trouble in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Police operatives from Igando Division of the Lagos State Command tracked and arrested Kehinde. The Police asked her to transfer the money to the owner,  Patricia Benjamin but she refused and told the Police that she had already spent the money because it was prayer answered.

She told the Police that before the money was erroneously paid into her account, she was facing serious financial challenges and had been praying for assistance before she eventually received the bank transaction alert.

The Police stated that the owner of the money, Patricia Benjamin, erroneously transferred the money in question to  Kehinde’s Stanbic IBTC account number 0014457943. And immediately she received the alert, the suspect, Kehinde, withdrew the money and used it on her pressing challenges.

However, when the owner of the money,  Patricia discovered that she transferred the money to a wrong account and asked her to refund the money, Kehinde told her that the money was prayer answered.

The matter was reported to the Police and Kehinde was arrested. During interrogation, she still insisted that she will not refund the money. Having been found culpable, she was charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

When she was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor,  Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, A.K. Dosumu, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 25th May, 2022, for mention.
