MICHAEL AKINOLA
Following numerous calls and inquest from family, friends, associates and loved ones, former Ikeja Local Government boss and former LAWMA Board Member, Engr. Dr. Abiodun Taiwo, has stated that he has not declared his intention or aspiration for any position in the 2023 electoral process.
Making the disclosure on Saturday from Istanbul, Turkey, where he is currently attending a training on “Transformative Leadership”, the former Ikeja Local Government Sole Administrator said, “Dear family, friends and admirers,
I have received so many words of encouragement and inquest from family, friends and loved ones about my intentions and my willingness to put myself forward and participate in the 2023 electoral process”.
“In fact my phone is inundated with numerous calls, some suggesting that I have secretly declared my intentions, while others are optimistic, that I will declare my intention soon.”
“My sincere appreciation to everyone, who has reached out to me, including my friends in Diaspora, thank you all!
“May I use this opportunity to state that I am taking my time praying and seeking direction from GOD, there is also need for me to consult and seek direction(s) from my leader and mentor.”
“My immediate family counts in my decision making and I must seek their opinion and support in these regards. My political leaders and associates must also be consulted.”
“I am still NOT categorical about my intentions, as I have “politically grown” beyond seeking election or appointments into any political office for my own self aggrandizement…”the people must come first”.
“My growth has put me in a conscious position whereby; I must first consider the true needs of the electorates, the Constituents and by extension my Constituency…..I must be sincere enough to check if I fit into the mould of one who can “honestly” solve our problems and bring about the needed change with an audacious posture.”
“I refuse to lay claim to any position or to pretend that “it’s my turn”. NEVER will I also claim to be the anointed….; NO, I detest self entitlement syndrome.”
“I will not pretend that I have solutions to all the pressing needs in my Constituency. However, I have been around long enough for me to be able to make a positive impact “IF” I choose to “run”.
“Dear all, this is my “sincere” position, thus far, I have no hidden agenda, both personal or partisan, and I have no reason to step on anybody’s toe.”
“Please everyone should watch out this space, for my sincere response and position with particular reference to my interest, “if any”, concerning 2023 electoral process, by April 20, 2022, by the Grace of God.”
“So, if you have not heard anything directly from me, take all news and opinions with Levity as I await GOD’S direction” Engr. Taiwo submitted.
Findings from our correspondent point to the fact that the highly respected Engr. Abiodun Taiwo has remained an enigmatic incipient leader and a core professional, who is extremely popular and very active in the political scene.
It is therefore, not out of place for rumours of his intention to run for an elective office come 2023 to be all over the media platforms. Majority of his colleagues, who had previously declared their intentions to run and who had constantly seen him as the candidate to beat because of his popularity and acceptance amongst the party leadership and the electorates, have now seen him as a threat to their 2023 aspirations.
However, ENI AFE has remained silent about his intention to run for any office. There has been speculations that he wants to run for the Senate (Lagos West Senatorial District) while some believe he wants to contest for the House of Representatives (Ikeja Federal Constituency), even though he has constantly denied vying for the House of Reps, claiming that he has always and will continue to support Hon. James Faleke, who by his estimation has exceeded all expectations as regards performance and quality representation.
Only few believe that he will be vying for the Lagos State House of Assembly (Ikeja Constituency 2), an office which he had contested twice in 2011 and 2015.
We will wait till he makes his intentions known.
