A notorious wanted suspected cultist, Lukman Shonubi, popularly known as Tinny, has confessed to the Police that he has killed only six people before he was rearrested by the Police in Ogun State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect made the confession after he was arrested having been under profiling before the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Salami Murphy.
The suspect, according to the Police, who is a member of Eiye confraternity, is a serial killer, armed robber and have been on the Police wanted list before he was arrested.
This was disclosed by the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed that he was arrested following intelligence sharing with a sister security agency.
She said: “So Safe Corps shared an intelligence with the Police that the most wanted notorious criminal, one Lukman Shonubi, who the Police have been tracking, was sighted at a function fomenting trouble with intention to distract his victims and dispossess them of their valuables”.
“This time, the Police were faster than him, arriving at the nick of time, arresting and taking him away from the event.
Shonubi, on interrogation, confessed that he has killed over six persons as a cultist and had robbed supermarkets. A prominent name was Perry, where he robbed the woman on Molipa Expressway at gunpoint, stealing handbags, phones, Automated Teller Machine (ATM), power bank and N300,000 cash.”
“His cohorts escaped at the event, but a locally fabricated short gun was recovered at his hideout when the Police carried out a search. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other cohorts, while Shonubi is presently in police custody on interrogation.”
Odutola added: “More persons have continued to take advantage of the amnesty window emplaced by the Commissioner of Police (CP), Alamutu Abiodun, to renounce cultism. Young persons thronging the Command Headquarters at Eleweran Abeokuta, alone and some with their parents to renounce cultism and cult-related activities”.
“The window and leverage is still open to all and sundry willing to turn a new leaf. The amnesty window is effective and more persons are hereby encouraged to use this medium to say no to cultism and confraternity that leads only to death,” she added.
