A 31-year old jilted lady, Rose Phillip, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly pouring hot water on a couple, Onyemaechi Paul ‘M’ and Uzoka Chioma ‘F’ and inflicted injury on them during a squabble.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 11th October, 2024, at Itanola Drive at about 0700hrs at Ajao Estate in Lagos.

The cause of the fight was not disclosed by the Police but Police sources said that the lady was jealous of the victims after she was jilted by a man and she became violent in the neighbourhood.

The lady was alleged to have had a disagreement with the victims over an undisclosed matter and they had exchange of words. In the process, she boiled water and poured it on the victims, which injured them and they were rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

The matter was reported to the Police at Ajao Estate Division and the Police arrested and detained her at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct against the victims.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Isolo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence on two counts charges.

The charges read:

COUNT II:”That you, Rose Philip  ‘F’ on the same date and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did commit felony to wit Assault Occasioning Harm, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 299 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

She pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Solomon, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate,  I.O.Williams, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
