Jilted Man Sent To Prison For Pasting Lover’s Picture In Public With Nasty Comments

A 48-year old man, Olakunle Sunday, has landed in trouble in Osun State after he was jilted by his lover, Adetunbi Ramat, and in anger he pasted her picture in the public space with nasty comments.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Sunday, has been arrested and charged before the Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly defaming Ramat after she was said to have jilted him.

 

The incident happened at Osogbo, Osun State State, where Sunday resides.

 

The matter was reported to the Police and he was charged before the Court for defamation and breach of public peace under the Criminal law of the State, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olayiwola Rasaq, told the Court that the defendant pasted Ramat’s picture directly opposite her house and wrote “Obo Ole” on it after their love affair went sour.

The charge read, “That you Olakunle Sunday on the 24th day of September 2023 at about 9:00pm at Obate Street, Oke-Baale area, Osogbo, in the Osogbo magisterial district, did injure the reputation of one Adetunbi Ramat by exposing her to hatred, contempt and ridicule by pasting her photograph opposite her house and writing “Obo ole” on it and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 373 of Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”

“On the same date time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, you did defame the character and exposed one Adetunbi Ramat to hatred and pasted her photograph in the public place in order to expose her to hatred and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 375 of Criminal code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”

“That you Olakunle Sunday, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace when you pasted the photograph of one Adetunbi Ramat in the public place and wrote “Obo ole” on it and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 249 (D) of Criminal code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The defence counsel, Najite Okobe, urged the Court to grant Sunday bail in the most liberal terms.

The Presiding Magistrate, Oyindamola Daramola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.

The matter was adjourned till 7th November, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded at Ilesa prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
