As part of its ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing and workplace health education, JMG Limited, a leading provider of electromechanical solutions in Nigeria, has organized a comprehensive breast cancer awareness session for its employees. The initiative, held in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026, was aimed at increasing understanding of breast cancer, promoting early detection, and empowering employees to seek timely medical attention.
The session was held under the global theme for this year, “Every Story Is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” a theme that highlights the individual experiences of people affected by breast cancer and reinforces the importance of early diagnosis, access to appropriate care, and compassionate support for patients and their families. For JMG, the session reflects a broader philosophy that values the health and wellbeing of its people as central to sustainable organizational growth.
Facilitating the health education session was Dr. Asishana Sanni, Group Head of Medical Services at NEM Health Limited, a medical professional with over 14 years of clinical experience. Dr. Sanni delivered an insightful and engaging presentation that covered key aspects of breast cancer awareness, including what breast cancer is, common risk factors, potential warning signs to look out for, and the critical role of regular self-examination and clinical screening.
She emphasized that while breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers affecting women globally, outcomes are significantly improved when the condition is detected early and medical advice is sought promptly. Dr. Sanni encouraged participants to pay attention to changes in their bodies, to prioritize regular medical check-ups, and to overcome hesitation or stigma that may delay seeking care. She also addressed common myths and misconceptions about breast cancer, providing evidence-based information to help employees make informed decisions about their health.
The session was interactive, with employees given the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarifications, and share perspectives. It was conducted using a hybrid format, allowing both physical and virtual participation to ensure employees across different locations within the organization could benefit from the discussion. This inclusive approach ensured wide engagement and reinforced JMG’s culture of shared learning.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Gloria Ibeziako, Chief Human Resources Officer at JMG Limited, stated that access to reliable health information is fundamental to personal and collective wellbeing.
“Being properly informed about our health is one of the most important steps we can take towards protecting ourselves and the people we care about. At JMG, we believe that creating awareness goes beyond sharing information. It is about empowering our people with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions, recognise when to seek medical attention and take their wellbeing seriously,” she said.
Mrs. Ibeziako noted that initiatives of this nature are part of JMG’s broader employee wellness strategy, which seeks to create a supportive workplace where employees are encouraged to prioritize their health, not just during designated awareness months, but throughout the year.
JMG Limited is known for providing electromechanical solutions and related services to businesses across various sectors, including power generation, electrical infrastructure, and air conditioning systems. Beyond its core business operations, the company has consistently demonstrated a commitment to corporate responsibility and people-centered initiatives. Through health education programs, wellness activities, and awareness campaigns, JMG continues to foster a workplace culture that recognizes employee wellbeing as an integral part of organizational success.
Health experts agree that awareness campaigns like this play a vital role in reducing late presentation of breast cancer cases and improving health outcomes in communities. By bringing medical expertise directly to the workplace and creating safe spaces for health conversations, organizations like JMG are helping to bridge information gaps and encourage proactive health-seeking behaviour.
The breast cancer awareness session is one of several wellness-focused programs implemented by JMG Limited this year, as the company continues to champion initiatives that support the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of its employees, while also contributing to greater public awareness of health issues that affect individuals, families, and communities at large.
