A 34-year old jobless man, Mustapha Adedotun displayed his boxing prowess after he attacked his 70-year old father, Ibrahim and battered him for demanding electricity bill from him.
The incident happened at 12 Mukaila Street in Itire area of Lagos where they reside.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the old man suffered his fate after he demanded electricity bill for an apartment he gave him to occupy.
An infuriated Mustapha who reportedly lost his job attacked him, rained blows on the victim and he fell down before the tenants rushed out, rescued and rushed him to a hospital.
The matter was reported to the police at Itire Division and Mustapha was arrested and detained at the station.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Mustapha told the police that he was angry because his mates were almost all married and had their own children, but he lost his job and his father came to demand electricity bill from him.
However, the police rebuked him and charged before Isolo Magistrate’s court for the assault under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr Oje Uagbale did not object to his bail but urged the court to grant the suspect bail that will enable him to come for trial in the interest of justice.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.O. Ogbe granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The court also ordered that the sureties must be his two blood brothers who must show evidence of means of livelihood.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter has been adjourned till 27th of September, 2017.
