NOC has appointed Dr Musa Oshodi as the Chairman of the Medical and Scientific Commission of the body.

In the letter dated May 29th 2023, and signed by the President, Engr. Habu Gumel the NOC explained that Dr Oshodi was appointed in recognition of his wealth of experience and outstanding contribution to Nigerian sports as well as the Olympic movement.

The letter read “… the Executive Board of the Nigeria Olympic Committee has approved your appointment as the chairman of the Medical and Scientific Commission.

“Your appointment is in recognition of your wealth of experience and outstanding contribution to Nigerian sports as well as the Olympic movement.

“It is therefore hoped that you would bring to bear your expertise and experience in achieving the goals of your Commission and the Nigeria Olympic Committee in general.”

In his reaction, Dr. Oshodi thanked the leadership of the apex sports body for the confidence reposed in him.

“I am profoundly grateful to the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr. Habu Gumel and the distinguished members of the Executive Board for giving me this opportunity to serve Nigerian sports.

It is indeed a great honour and also a challenge. Without mincing words, it’s a challenge which I will give my very best in the overall interest of Nigerian sports.

Dr. Oshodi, 5th Dan and the first judoka to head the NJF, has over two decades experience in sports administration. Aside holding different positions in the NJF, as Vice President, Technical Director, he has single-handedly nurtured judo in the South West zone for over ten years.

He is also the founder of the Dr. Musa Oshodi Judo Foundation, an organisation that has sponsored several judo programmes and assisted judokas in the pursuit of their respective dreams outside the martial art.
