Kayode Ojo Criticizes Low Voter Participation in Ekiti Gubernatorial Election, Urges Support for Tinubu in Anticipation of 2027

Engr. Kayode Ojo, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, has expressed disappointment regarding what he termed the “insufficient turnout of voters” in the gubernatorial election held on June 20 in the state. He has urged party supporters across the Southwest to offer unwavering and complete backing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in preparation for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Ojo, who had aspirations to run for governor in the state, made these remarks at a gathering with members of both the “Elders and Consultative forums” from his campaign organization in Ado Ekiti.

The spokesperson for the Campaign Organization, Femi Awojobi, released a statement to the media indicating that Ojo encouraged APC members, especially his followers, to return to their local wards and actively mobilize efforts to ensure the success of both the President and the party.

The APC official voiced his worries regarding the “disappointing voter turnout” observed during the gubernatorial election on June 20, 2026, in Ekiti State.

He pointed out that even though the party achieved victory, the low engagement of eligible voters was troubling and indicated a need for increased grassroots efforts.

“We have the numbers and the structure in Ekiti. But we must go back to the wards and work. 2027 is around the corner, and President Tinubu deserves our total support, Ojo said.

He commended the president for what he described as “numerous achievements” since assuming office and urged Nigerians to continue to support the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Ojo also used the opportunity to appreciate his supporters for their sacrifices during the struggle for the party’s governorship ticket. He assured them that their loyalty would not go unrewarded.

“We have lost nothing, I can assure you of that. What is coming is more than what you thought we had lost. With or without the governorship position, I am poised to always support our people and alleviate their sufferings,” he said.

“I have always prayed to God to give me the power to support you all, no matter how many you are. I will always support you because I know everyone needs one form of support or the other — financially, morally, and physically.”

The APC chieftain concluded by urging unity and cohesion within the party, stressing that a united APC in Ekiti and the Southwest is critical to delivering victory for President Tinubu in 2027.
