The police in Igando Division have been battling to arrest a robbery syndicate who had been terrorizing the residents of Egan, Akesan  Igando and its environs for over a period of time in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS investigation revealed that the dare-devil robbers move from house to house in the area, attacking and robbing people of their valuables mostly at night and early morning.

It was gathered that while the police were battling to curb the activities of local fraudsters, drug dealers and highway robbers, the street robbers reared their ugly heads.
According to the residents, for some time now the gang had been terrorizing the area, broken into houses at night, attacked, stole phones, money, valuables and escaped. One of the residents who resided at Egan said that the robbers had been coming to their area with boldness; he said that any house they entered and the owner failed to give them something, they will be attack and injure such persons saying that they should then spend the money in the hospital for failing to give to them.
The latest threat came as a result of the robbers not getting cash but phones and other valuables from victims. They then told the victims to inform other residents to prepare for their coming and keep money for them otherwise they will kill them.
The residents now live in fear as many of them were jobless and that was why they were staying in such areas.
They are pleading with the police in the area to do more to protect them because their lives were in danger as the robbers had announced their coming.
It was gathered that the police were aware of the development and were said to be making effort to arrest the syndicate.
P.M.EXPRESS however scooped that the police were doing their best but the major problems were lack of man power and bad roads leading to the areas.
Police sources said that the number officers in the Division were low compared to the volatile situation of the area. The bad roads which posed serious problem for the available officers to penetrate the areas were also a factor.

The residents was said to be making efforts to get the local vigilante to assist the police as they had been living in fear over the boldness of the robbers.

The DPO could not be reached for comments on the matter. However, sources at the station said that there had been reports of the activities of the syndicate and that the police were making efforts to get them arrested.
