Abraham Kiptum of Kenya has won the 42.1km Access Bank Lagos City Marathon in an improved timing that saw him finishing at a time of 2 hours, 10 minutes.
The Kenyan was in Lagos in the first edition last year which he also won at a time of 2 hours 16 minutes and 19 seconds.
The women race was won by Ethiopian Halima Hussen at a time of 2 hours, 38 minutes and 36 seconds. While Philibus Sharubutu was the first Nigerian to cross the finish line.
The race started earlier on Saturday at the National Stadium, Surulere and ended at the Eko Atlantic City in Victoria Island.
The Lagos Marathon race hosts over 100,000 local and international athletes from 27 countries, including Nigeria, participated in the race. It also featured around 64 elite athletes from 26 countries, 30 special athletes and 102 runners from Nigeria.
The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, the Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung, and other dignitaries were at the finish line.
