Police operatives from the Ogun State Command have arrested a 40-year old labourer, Lekan Sunday, for allegedly forcefully engaging a Prophetess in sex inside a church in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Sunday, stormed the church, Orioke Aanu Oluwa Gbohunmi, in the Ilogbo Adu area of Kemta, Abeokuta area of the State, with weapons and met the victim sleeping.
He reportedly woke up the Prophetess and held her hostage while brandishing a knife in her face threatening that he would kill her if she continued to give him a tough time by not allowing him to have sex with her.
The Prophetess initially raised alarm but when her call for help from people around the premises did not yield results, the Prophetess was said to have pleaded with the suspect to pity her.
However, despite several pleas with Sunday, he insisted on having sex with the Prophetess. He eventually forced her into submission and allegedly raped the Prophetess.
Having satisfied himself, he escaped with the hope that the victim will not be able to identify him. But victim actually identified him and went to the Police in the area to report the matter.
The Police then launched a manhunt for the suspect, who had fled and eventually arrested him. He was then detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
This was confirmed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, who disclosed that the Prophetess recognised the suspect as a mason and labourer in the area.
“The incident happened last Thursday. We arrested the suspect on Monday. The preliminary investigation into the matter is ongoing,” Odutola stated.
The suspect risks several years of imprisonment for armed rape but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
