It was double tragedy in Lagos State for the family of a 21-year old lady, Blessing Ernest, who allegedly killed her biologically brother, Chibuike Ernest, by stabbing him with a kitchen knife and he died in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the late Chibuike’s corpse has been deposited in the mortuary while the suspect, Blessing, has been arrested for the alleged dastardly murder.
The incident happened at Iyalode Street, Agege area of Lagos, where they reside?
The suspect, Blessing, is now facing the charge for murder over the alleged killing of her brother, Chibuike, which attracts life imprisonment or death by hanging as penalty if convicted.
The Police alleged the suspect, Miss Blessing, to have had a disagreement with his late brother, Chibuike, which led to a fight between them. In the process, Blessing was said to have picked a kitchen knife and stabbed him on the chest.
He was said to have fell down and bled profusely before he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he eventually died and the corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy report.
The matter was reported to the Police at Isokoko Division and Blessing was arrested. She was later transferred to the SCID, Yaba, for further investigation over the alleged murder.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable and subsequently charged her before the Yaba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
But when she was arraigned, the Court did not take her plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Rita Momah, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Salawu, ordered her remand into the Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice while directing the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
