Police operatives from the Commissioner of Police Tactical Squad of the Lagos State Command have tracked and caught a 22-year old lady, Awawu Adewunmi Esho, with a phone robbed at gun point during an operation.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect has been arrested and charged for conspiracy and stealing over her alleged conduct.

According to the Police, the suspect was tracked and caught with the Vivo phone valued One hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N150,000.00), which was robbed at gun point, property of one Ifeanyi Ayogu on February, 2025, at Iba area of Lagos.

The victim, Ifeanyi Ayogu, was dispossessed of the phone by armed robbers at gun point and he reported the matter to the Tactical Squad. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested the lady and detained her at the Command Headquarters for investigation.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that she was gifted the phone by a suspect now at large but denied being part of the robbery gang.

The Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

“That you, Awawu Adewunmi Esho and others at large, on 22nd February, 2025 at about 0845hrs at Iba area of Lagos in the Lagos magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

However, she pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
