A 45-year old man, Tochukwu Dike, had a nasty experience in Lagos State after he engaged his 26-year old female neighbour, Ifunanya Eze, in a public fight and she beat him mercilessly, smashing his head with a bottle and injuring him seriously.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Salami Street, Mafoluku area of Oshodi, Lagos, where they reside.
Both of them have been arrested and charged for affray and conduct likely to cause breach of public peace while the lady, Ifunanya, was also charged for assault against Tochukwu.
According to the Police, the man, Tochukwu and Ifunanya had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter which led to a physical fight between them and Tochukwu was said to have first attacked the lady, Ifunanya, to subdue her.
However,  he did not know that Ifunanya possessed fighting skills to the extent that before he could subdue her, she smashed a bottle on his head and injured his hand in the process.
The fight between the duo ended abruptly and Tochukwu was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and the matter was reported to the Police at Makinde Division. The Police arrested Ifunanya and detained her at the station for the alleged assault on Tochukwu.
In the course of interrogation, the Police found out that Tochukwu started the fight but was defeated by Ifunanya, who injured him in the process. The Police thereafter charged both of them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged affray and assault.
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor,  Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
