A 33-year old lady, Ugochukwu Nneoma, has been arrested and charged for allegedly threatening to kill a woman, Chidinma Peace Nwaima, after she obtained the sum of 5m under false pretence in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports the suspect and others now at large conspired and obtained the money from the victim from 2022 to 2024 under false pretence. And when the complainant demanded for her money, she stated threatening her and her family.

The matter was reported to the Police at State Investigation Department in Ikeja Police Command. She was then arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over the alleged conduct.

During interrogation, she promised to refund the money on a later date and was granted administrative bail. She however, jumped bail and did not return the money she obtained from the complainant.

She was later arrested and consequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

“That you, Ugochukwu Nneoma ‘f’ and others now at large from 2022 to 2024 in Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: written threat to kill and thereby committed an offence under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

However, she pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Adesumola Olasumkanmi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
