Lady, 35, Docked For Allegedly Receiving Stolen Ladies Hand Bags Worth N5. 6m

A 35-year old lady, Obifah Victoria, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly receiving stolen ladies hand bags worth N5.4m belonging to one Agari at the Trade Fair Complex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Liberty Link Plaza opposite Motel at the Trade Fair Complex.
According to the Police, the suspect received two cartons of ladies hand bag from one Cynthia Emenike Chinedu  valued the said amount knowing same to have been stolen.
The complainant later discovered that the items were missing and he reported to the Police at Trade Fair Division. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the station for interrogation.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found her culpable and charged her before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Obifah Victoria and others at large, on 9th day of May. 2025 at Liberty Link plaza, opposite Motel, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial district, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to, and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT 11:-“That you, Obifah Victoria, on the same date and place in the aforesaid Magisterial district, did dishonestly receive two cartons of ladies hand bag from one Cynthia Emenike Chinedu ‘m’ valued N5,600,000.00 (Five million. Six hundred thousand Naira) only, knowing same to have been stolen or dishonestly obtained, property of one Agari ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 328 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagoş State 2015.”
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Uche Simeon, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
