Lady, 38, Arraigned For Stealing N4.6m Worth Of Jewelries Inside Shop

A 38-year old lady, Prisca Ejelonu, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after she went to a shop and stole N4.6m worth of jewelries belonging to one Mary Oyinbo. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that she has been arrested and charged for  conspiracy and stealing under the Criminal Law of the State over her alleged conduct.

 

The incident happened between December 2025 to January 2026 at Nob-Oluwa Street, where the shop is located.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at Area G Command in Ogba. The suspect was arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over her alleged conduct.

 

After thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable and charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

COUNT I:-“That you, Prisca Ejelonu ‘f’ and others now at large sometimes in the month of December 2025 to January 2026 at No. 7, Nob-Oluwa Street Ogba Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire together among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal law, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II:-“That you, Prisca Ejelonu ‘f’ and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal set of jewelries from a shop at No. 7, Nob-Oluwa Street, Ogba Lagos, which were valued at four million six hundred thousand Naira only (N4,600,000.00) property of one Mary Oyinbo and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

She pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
