Lady Arrested For Stealing Fairly Used Wares

A 40-year old lady, one Maryann Emeziem, has been arrested for stealing fairly used clothes, shoes and hand bags in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Alausa area of Ikeja, she was apprehended and handed over to the police at Alausa Division.

It was not confirmed if the suspect was a dealer or she stole disguised as a customer as the police did not disclose that. It was gathered that the suspect obtained the items said to be worth about N560,000 from one Christy Odion under false and escaped.
However, the matter was reported to the police who trailed and arrested her but the fairly used items were not recovered from her.
She was charged before the Ikeja Magistrate court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. Benson Emuerhi, did not oppose her being granted bail but asked the court to give a short adjournment for hearing.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 29th November, 2018 for mention.

P.M.EXPRESS confirmed that the defendant was not the only person that was alleged to have committed such crime.  Some ladies recently had stolen similar items from super stores, were caught and charged to court.
