A single lady, Miss Sylvia Amanda showed her skills in marshal art when she dislodged a suspected armed robber who came to her restaurant, pointed a gun at her and demanded the whole money from her sales.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the incident took place at her restaurant located at Asafariogun Street in Ajao estate, Lagos.

The suspect, Mr. Patrick Richard, had reportedly gone to Amanda’s office in the evening and pretended to be a customer who came for food and drinks.
However, after eating and drinking, he brought out and pointed a gun on Amanda’s head and ordered her to bring all the money she had inside her bag. He threatened to kill her if she failed to comply with his order while still pointing the gun at her.

It was gathered that Amanda brought out her bag and pretended to be handing it over to Richard. Amanda immediately used the bag to hit his hand and the gun fell off. She then held Richard, raised alarm which attracted their neighbours and they held Richard inside the restaurant only to realise that it was a toy gun.

The police at Ajao Estate was immediately contacted; Richard was arrested, the toy gun recovered as exhibit and taken to the police station.

P.M.EXPRESS confirmed from Richard that he actually wanted to rob her but did not mean to kill because what he had was just a toy gun.

Mr. Richard was charged before Isolo Magistrates court for armed robbery and threat to life.
The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uagbale opposed his application for bail and informed the court that it was a case of armed robbery which the court had no jurisdictional power. Mr. Uagbale made an application for Richard’s file to be duplicated and sent to DPP for advice.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, ordered Richard to be remanded in prison custody without granting him bail.
The court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice. Hence, if found culpable by DPP, Richard will face trial at the High Court despite that it was a toy gun that he used for the operation.

The matter was adjourned till 23 July, 2018 for report of DPP to be ready.
