A lady, Jessica Ubakwere has landed in trouble after failed attempts to send some ladies abroad under the false pretence of securing them jobs but actually wanted to use and trade them as sex workers.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that she lied to them that she had opened African kitchen in United Kingdom and promised to employ them over there.
She gave the condition that the victims will have to pay certain amount of money for the procurement of their travel visas and other documents to enable them to stay there which the victims had paid her.
However, after she collected almost N2.5m from the victims, she was unable to procure visas or any documents for them to travel. The victims having waited in vain, demanded for their money to no avail. But by then other negatives issues had come up against the suspect which the victims did not know before.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered the victims later discovered that she had no such kitchen and that she wanted to trade them as prostitutes but failed as she had planned.
Consequently, the matter was reported to the police and she was arrested at her Okota, Lagos home where the transaction took place.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered from one of the victims simply known as Alice that they realised that other women and men were involved in the scam. They requested for their money but she refused insisting that she had spent the money on the failed visa procurements.
She was charged before Isolo Magistrates court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Adedayo granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
