CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

A lady, Juliet Etim is now counting her loses after she attempted to get rich by all means and was duped of undisclosed huge amount of money by suspected fraudsters popularly known as money doublers.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the victim was accosted on 14th April, 2018 along Cele bus stop by an ex-convict, one Mr. Chukwuemeka Okafor, who convinced her that he will make her rich and change her entire life.

She became convined and accepted to part with certain amounts of money in exchange for the huge sums which gang had promised to give her. She was then taken to the NNPC area in Ejigbo, Lagos where she was introduced to the other gang members. They showed her Naira notes, Dollars and British pounds which they claimed that they were ready to give to her if she will part with some amounts of money.

It was gathered that for fours days, she emptied all her bank accounts and even borrowed from relations and friends.

However, the more she brought the money they asked for, the more money they requested. She later regained her senses and realised that she had been duped.

She went to Area D, Mushin Command and reported what had happened to her to the police. The police detectives then followed her to the scene at 4, Cepetine Street in Ejigbo and arrested two of the members of the syndicate, one Onyemaechi Nwoko and Okafor, and they were taken to the Command at Mushin, Lagos.

The police also recovered a container of chemical substance, some fake Dollars, Pounds, other foreign currencies and took to the command as exhibits.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that during interrogations, the suspects confessed that they were fraudsters and had no such powers to make the victim rich as they claimed.

They were paraded by the Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal at the Police Command in Ikeja, Lagos.
The police boss said that the suspects will be charged to court and added that their other accomplices in the crime will soon be arrested as the police were on their trail to get them arrested.

Edgal warned members of the public to be wary of the person they were dealing with and encouraged the public to always be vigilant and promptly report any suspicion to the police for prompt action.
