Lady Loses N47m Jewelries To Newly Hired Maid

A lady, Mrs. Uchenna Obiageli, may have engaged a suspected robber as house maid in Lagos following her loss of over N47million jewelries.

The house maid, 28-year old Happiness Denis, has been arrested for allegedly burgling Obiageli’s bedroom and carting away the items.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Jose Maria Street, Isaruo Estate in Lekki, Lagos, where the victim, Obiageli resided with her family.

The police alleged that the suspect, Happiness, burgled the victim’s bedroom, stole the items worth the said amount and escaped.

Some of the items included diamond and gold pendants, earrings and others worth the amount.

The theft was reported to the police at FSARS who went into investigation and arrested Happiness.

She was found culpable and charged to court.

The police did not state if they recovered some of the items but the suspect was brought before Ikeja Magistrates court for the alleged offence.

She pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Benson Emuerhi, did not object her being granted bail.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat granted her bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail.

The matter was adjourned till 30th July, 2018.
