A lady, Juliet Ezeola lost N100,000 after she was tricked by local fraudsters who promised to change her money into dollars. She was duped and was not even given the fake dollars.

The incident happened at Pen Cinema area of Agege, Lagos where the victim met the suspects.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspects approached the victim and told her that they had some chemicals which they will use to wash the dollar equivalent of any amount she brought in Naira. The victim became convinced, brought the said amount of money and gave it to the suspects.

When they obtained the money, they asked her to go and come back the next day so that she will collect the dollars unknown to her that it was a scam.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that on the day the victim was asked to return, she went there but she did not see anybody. She made inquiry around and she was told that such people do not live in the area. It was then that it became clear to her that she had been duped.

She reported the matter at Pen Cinema Police Division. The police trailed the suspects and one of them, Ukeugo was arrested and detained at the police station. He admitted that they collected such money and had shared it amongst their gang. Ukeugo also revealed that they had no dollars to give to her but they only used the ploy to dupe her.

The suspect was charged before Ogba Magistrates court.

He pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The suspect was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 15 November, 2017.
