Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Dr. (Mrs.) Lola Akande, has been honoured with Achiever Per Excellence Award by Arewa Youth Advocacy For Good Governance (AYAGG).

The group is an umbrella body of students and youths in 19 Northern States, including Abuja, whose objective is to promote unity and peace in the North and across Nigeria.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Commissioner at the Ministry on Friday, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Adetutu Oluremi Ososanya, FCA, commended AYAGG for their contributions to national development and for recognising outstanding individuals like the Commissioner, who are making great impacts in their spheres of influence.

Her words: “It is indeed great to note your contributions to tackling various social challenges confronting our society. The youth cannot be taken for granted as they have great roles to play in national development. Also, we cannot pretend that those issues do not exist and that is why the State Government, under Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration, is doing a lot to address the problems of the youth and empower them economically”.

While maintaining that she has been at the forefront of implementing the State’s programmes for MSMEs/Hubs and providing platforms for entrepreneurs, including youth, to exhibit their products and services, Akande said the award will spur her to do more just as she expressed her willingness to work with the youth to impact the society further.

Speaking earlier, the Leader of the Team, Ambassador Nofiu Yushau Zugachi said Dr. Akande was honoured for sharing a common ideology with the organisation focusing on tackling Drug Abuse, Youth Unemployment, Girl-Child Education, Domestic Violence and other challenges.

“The Commissioner’s efforts toward making the society a better place are acknowledged by Northern Students. Her integrity, sagacity and selfless service informed her nomination. In addition, she has not folded her arms and allowed the nation to totter into destruction”, he enthused.
