Lagos DSVA & Ikeja NBA Embark On SGBV Advocacy Campaign

Speaking at the event on Friday, the Executive Secretary of DSVA, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, said the collaboration with the Nigeria Bar Association was a good development as it has become crucial for all hands to be on deck with the increase in SGBV cases and other forms of abuse in the State.
She explained that the awareness campaign, tagged: “Together We Can End Domestic And Sexual Violence”, was aimed at sensitising the public on the menace of Sexual and Domestic Violence, the reporting and referral pathways, as well as encouraging citizens to take action by breaking the culture of silence and reporting cases to the Agency.
While maintaining that the rise in issues relating to SGBV connotes that victims and survivors are speaking up, Vivour-Adeniyi called on all and sundry to ensure that the awareness of all forms of violence should be intensified among the general public.
Chairman of NBA Ikeja Branch, Seyi Olawumi Esq, who was represented by the Chairman, Planning Committee, NBA, Ikeja Law Week 2023, Olatunde Adejuyigbe (SAN) said the NBA has set aside the day to support the State Government and the Lagos DSVA in its resolve to end the SGBV menace in the State.
Residents of Ogba and Ikeja where the campaign was held lauded the efforts of the team and were receptive to the initiative as it allowed them to share their experiences and concerns on issues relating to SGBV as well as obtain a direct and immediate response and legal advice on pertinent issues.
