Lagos First Lady Now Ambassador For Girl Child

The wife of the Executive Governor of Lagos State and First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sonwo-Olu, has promised to collaborate with the nongovernmental organizations, NGOs, to ensure that the girl child and women were protected in Nigeria.

This was the outcome of a courtesy visit to her by a Non Governmental Organization known as the International Charitable Initiative for Girl Child and Woman Development Foundation (ICI-GWODEF) also known as Girl Child and Woman Foundation recently.

The courtesy visit to Mrs. Sanwo Olu was to solicit for her support and collaboration over the problem of girl child in Nigeria.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the visit to her office was to solidify a relationship which bothers on the Girl Child, her life and her security.
The team was led by Barr. Mrs. Helen Nchedo Ibeji, the President/CEO of the Organization. Members of the team were: Barr. Mrs. Ify Uzokwe, Pastor Mrs. Peace Emeka Idih, Mrs. Atu, Owobi Maria and Mrs. Francisca Chioma Generius.
The President of ICI-GWODEF, Barrister (Mrs.) Helen Ibeji, explained that the First Lady is to be Ambassador of the Girl Child starting from the Jerusalem which is now Lagos State, to every State in Nigeria and to the uttermost part of the Globe. She stated that their NGO’s leadership said that this year’s International day of the Girl Child is an Award giving day whereby very important people, who has contributed so much in the building of this Nation, especially in the life of Girl Child and Woman will be recognized and encouraged to do more.
Her Excellency, Dr. Sanwo-Olu, on her part thanked the NGO and promised to collaborate so far the Girl Child and Woman are concerned.
