Lagos Free Zone, Nigeria’s first private special economic zone, centrally located in Lagos State and promoted by Tolaram, has awarded scholarships to 23 students across its host communities, reinforcing its commitment to advancing education and youth development.
The scholarships were presented at the Zone’s annual scholarship award ceremony held on Monday, October 19, 2026.
Eight students received N150,000 each, while fifteen others received N100,000 each, bringing the total scholarship support to N2.7 million.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Free Zone, Adesuwa Ladoja, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in education and creating opportunities for young people to realise their potential.
Ladoja encouraged students and their guardians to remain committed to academic excellence, noting that discipline, dedication and consistent effort are essential in achieving educational goals.
“Education is one of the most important investments we can make in the future of our communities. Through our scholarship programme, we aim to support students in their academic journeys, encourage them to pursue their aspirations and help create opportunities for them to contribute meaningfully to society. Our commitment goes beyond providing financial assistance; it is about empowering young people with the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their communities,” she said.
The scholarship programme is part of Lagos Free Zone’s broader community development initiatives, which includes the Tolaram Science Challenge, aimed at promoting education and expanding opportunities for young people across its host communities.
In 2025, the Zone supported twenty students, eight of whom graduated, with four earning Bachelor of Science degrees and four obtaining National Diplomas.
Three of them have since secured employment within the Zone, highlighting the programme’s contribution to educational advancement and employment opportunities.
Through initiatives such as these, Lagos Free Zone continues to strengthen its relationship with its host communities while supporting education, skills development and long-term socioeconomic progress.
