A Lagos Lawyer, Mr. James Mba has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly beaten up a police Sergeant while performing his lawful duty.
The incident happened at Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos were the police sergeant, Nuru Bibiya attached to Ago Palace division was deployed to control traffic.
PM EXPRESS gathered that Mba, while driving his Honda Accord car with registration number LSD 356 DX, willfully obstructed the public highway.
As he caused obstruction, the victim accosted the suspect who reportedly came out of his car, held Bibiya’s uniform and assaulted him.
It took the intervention of other officers who rescued him and arrested the lawyer and then took him to the station with his car.
Mba was charged to court for assault and obstruction of traffic, an offence under the the criminal code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.K Shonubi granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was temporary detained until he perfected his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 4 April 2017.
