Nigerian French-born Calvin Hemery, who won the 2019 Lagos Open Tennis Championship last October, was a cynosure of all eyes at the recently held M15 Monastir Magic Tours in Tunisia.
According to Tennis Tour Talk, Hemery, who won the two legs of Lagos Open Tennis at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan in October this year, was the champion of the Magic Tours tournament, held at Hotel Skanes Family.
The French No. 3 seed battled through the bottom half of the draw by beating Czech junior entry Dalibor Svrcina in two sets in the final.
The tournament’s top favourite Arthur Rinderknech booked the spot in the all-French final with a straight-set win versus Russian No. 4 seed Evgenii Tiurnev.
Twenty-four year-old Hemery won 79 per cent of his first-service points to secure a 7-6, 6-4 victory after two hours and 18 minutes. The Paris resident, whose father hails from Edo State, south-south Nigeria won his seventh trophy on the ITF Tour, his third in 2019.
