Lagos Police Command Mourns DCP Khan Salihu’s Death

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the death of Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Khan Salihu, who served as Deputy Commissioner in charge of Finance and Administration until his passing on Monday, 15th June, 2026.
According to a press statement issued by the Command on 15th June, 2026, DCP Salihu died while serving in the Lagos State Police Command. The Command described the incident as a painful loss to officers and men of the formation.
SP Abimbola Adebisi, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, confirmed the death in the official release signed for the Commissioner of Police. The statement said DCP Salihu was a highly dedicated and disciplined senior officer.
The Command noted that the late Deputy Commissioner served the Nigeria Police Force with exceptional professionalism, loyalty, and integrity throughout his distinguished career. According to the statement, his conduct set a standard for officers under his supervision.
Police sources said DCP Khan Salihu exemplified diligence and exemplary leadership during his years in service. The Command stated that his administrative acumen contributed significantly to Police operations in Lagos State.
According to the release, DCP Salihu’s wealth of experience greatly enhanced the effective management and operational efficiency of the Lagos State Police Command. The Command credited him with strengthening administrative processes within the formation.
The news of his demise came as a profound shock to officers and men of the Command, according to the press statement. SP Adebisi said the loss was felt deeply across all departments and units within the Lagos Police formation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, expressed condolences on behalf of the entire officers and men of the Command. The CP extended heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult period.
The Command prayed that Almighty God grants the family strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. They also prayed for eternal rest for the departed officer.
DCP Khan Salihu will be fondly remembered for his dedication, humility, professionalism, and selfless service to the nation and the Nigeria Police Force, according to the Command. The release highlighted his commitment to duty as a model for serving officers.
The Command stated that his legacy of service and commitment will continue to inspire officers and men of the formation. Police authorities said his contributions to administrative efficiency remain a reference point within the Command.
The Command concluded with the traditional prayer: “May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
