In the past one week, the Police at Ikotun Division led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Abubakar Tsav, have lived up to expectations as they waged war with the deadly armed robbers known as ‘No Salary’ and ‘Million Robbers’ in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the rampaging robbers had visited houses and shops during the day, dispossessing innocent people of their valuables with impunity without any regard to the security in the area. That put the residents into serious panic and apprehension before the police moved in to repel their activities in the area.

Some of the streets visited by the dare-devil men of the underworld were Governor’s Road, Maciland Street at Prince Bus Stop in Ijegun, Abaranje and other areas in Ikotun axis of Lagos.

The residents claimed that three persons were killed by the armed robbers and many were injured in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that when the police got the information about their activities, the DPO mobilised the officers and went after them.
The robbers, who were said to be operating in hundreds drawn from different areas across the state, were mostly youths from Mushin, Bariga, Ojo, Oworoshoki, Yaba and other areas.
So far, 21 suspects were said to have been arrested while some exhibits such as machetes, drugs and charms were recovered from them.

P.M.EXPRESS tried to find out how the robbers could operate in such numbers, where they derived their names from and it was a shocking revelation.
It was scooped that the suspects were jobless youths who took solace in drugs and local gins. And with time, they metamorphosed into cult groups known as ‘No Salary’ and ‘Million Robbers’.
They were said to have been initiated and had bonded together as cult groups while getting involved in violence and armed robbery in order to survive and maintain the kind of criminal lives they lived.

“They are jobless and lazy; depending on drugs and alcohol and were always ready to violently cause mayhem in any area they were called for such services” a source said.

When P.MEXPRESS correspondent visited Ikotun police station where some of the suspects were detained, the DPO was not around for comments.
However, police sources and some residents confirmed their arrest.
The names of the suspects were not disclosed as the police claimed that the matter was still under investigation.
The sources said that the suspects will be transferred to FSARS for further investigations.
It was also learnt that the ‘Million Robbers’ first started in Ajegunle area some years ago before SARS operatives decimated them. Since that time, they got scattered and now want to spread to other areas under different names.
